  • Young Quote #6

A brave man could conquer fear, he had learned that, but perhaps only for a time. It was something the young did not understand, the way it could gnaw at a man, the way it came back stronger every time, until you were alone and gasping for breath.

    Conn Iggulden
  • Young Quote #7

A child can learn what is right as easy as what is wrong and whatever impressions are made on the mind when it is plastic will remain there.

A culture which doesn't believe in region and religion is like a rock music, noise for old generation & nirvana for the young ones.

    Megha Khare
  • Young Quote #10

A distaste for the new is not always fear of the unknown, but sometimes ambition. Some people don't like the new way simply because they never got a chance to master the old way.

    Criss Jami

A eso se dedican los jóvenes de ahora: a cosas pasajeras, ¡y después se encuentran con cincuenta años, calvos y sin familia!

    AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL

    Dear Mr. Schneider,
    I attended your elementary
    School almost thirty years ago
    And I'm very sure that
    You will remember
    Me.

    My name is Suzy.
    I'm that hyperactive girl
    From the Egyptian family
Who used to always play dead
    On the playground during
    Recess.

    You used to keep me
    After school a lot,
    And then my father would
Force me to make the long
Walk home in the cold or rain.
    Sometimes I would arrive
    After dark.

    I'm writing to tell you
That I was bored as a kid.
I was bored by your curriculum
And the way I was always taught a
    Bunch of useless
    Junk.

I did not like being locked up
In a prison of scheduled time
    Learning about irrelevant material,
    And watching belittling cartoons and
    Shows approved by academia that
    Made me even more
    Bored.

    As a kid
    Who was constantly
    Growing, evolving, and
Being shaped by all around me,
    I wanted to travel,
    See other kids
    In the world like me,
    To understand what was going
On amongst us and around us,
To know what we were here for
And what was our real purpose
    For existence.

    I have some questions
I would like to ask you, Mr. Schneider,
Now that I know that you are no
    Longer a school principal,
    But the new superintendent
    Of the entire school
    District.

    I want to know
    Why racism today
Was not clearly explained to me
    Even though we covered events
    That happened long ago.
I want to know why you
    Never shared with us
    Why other countries
    Never liked us,
Why we are taught to compete,
    To be divided in teams,
    And why conformity is associated
    With popularity, while
    Eccentricity is considered
    Undesirable?

    I want to know
    Why my cafeteria lunches
    Were slammed packed
    With bottom-tier
    Processed junk food
    Only suitable
    For pigs?
    And why is it
    That whenever a bully
Slammed a kid into a locker for
    His lunch money,
    Nobody explained to us
    That egotism, selfishness and greed
    Were the seeds of
    War?

    I want to know
    Why we were never taught
To stick up for each other,
To love one another, and that
    Segregation sorted by the
    Occupations of our fathers,
The neighborhoods we lived in, our houses,
    Choices of sport, wealth, clothing,
    Color of our skin
And the texture of our hair
    Should never, ever
    Divide us?

    And lastly,
    I want to know why
Is it that whenever I pledged
    Allegiance to the flag,
I was never told that I was
    Actually hailing to the
    Chief?

    You used to say that
    I was a troubled child,
A misfit, and that I needed
    Obedience training,
    But you never acknowledged that
I was the fastest runner in the district
And that I took the school
To State and Nationals to compete
In the Spelling Bee among kids
    Grades higher than me.
    And that it was me,
    Who won that big trophy
That sat in your office when you
Used to detain me for hours
And tell me I was no
    Good.

    Mr. Schneider,
If we are not taught truths as kids,
Then how do you expect us to
Grow up to be truthful citizens?
If we are only being taught the written way,
And it has not shown positive effects
In societies of yesterday or today,
Then how can we progress as a
    United and compassionate
    Nation?
    What good is it,
    To memorize the histories
    Of our forefathers,
    Without learning what could be
Gained from their lessons and mistakes
    To improve our future
    Tomorrows?

    And finally,
    I want to thank you;
For I know you have a tough job
Dealing with rebellious children like me.
Your job of mass processing and boxing
The young minds of America has not been an easy one,
    And I congratulate you
    On your recent promotion.
But I sincerely want to thank you,
    Thank you,
    And thank you,
    For always pointing out
    That I was
    Different.

  • Young Quote #14

Age is a seasoned trickster. To our parents, we will always be children. Within ourselves, the same yearnings of youth; the same aspirations of adolescence, will last a lifetime. Only to the young - blinded by our grey hair and slowing gait - do we appear old and increasingly beyond the pale.

    Alex Morritt
  • Young Quote #15

    Ah, youth!
    It was a beautiful night...
The moon was out of orbit.
    The stars were awry.
    But everything else was exactly
    as it should have been.

    Roman Payne
  • Young Quote #16

All four of us were young and undaunted and our smiles were so strong that it made me smile even then on the couch, with a kind of loss.

    Markus Zusak
  • Young Quote #17

All I want to be is very young always and very irresponsible and to feel that my life is my own-to live and be happy and die in my own way to please myself

    Zelda Fitzgerald
  • Young Quote #18

All the movies with young people were about wanting sex; all the movies with old people were about wanting sex. He would watch these films and feel defeated. When did you get to stop wanting to have sex?

    Hanya Yanagihara
  • Young Quote #19

Also, though not over-elderly, he was not over-young.

    Nikolai Gogol
  • Young Quote #20

and it was quite a sad thing,
the way I watched you sleep like nothing could go wrong and I did not want to harm it, I did not want to blur it, but how could I not
when everything I’ve ever known has slowly gone away
and I know by now that that’s the way you let the new day in
with new roads and views and chances to grow
but it was quite a sad thing
because I don’t want this to ever become ’then’ or ’was’
and it was quite an unfamiliar thing. The way I took off my shoes again, put down my bag and quietly went back to bed, slowly between the sheets of moments I don’t want to leave
and it was quite a beautiful thing the way you had no idea but still must have known because you did not even open your eyes, but turned around and took my hand and you were still asleep, breathing in and out like nothing could go wrong, but still held my hand like you were glad I didn’t leave. ’Thank you for staying’
and it was quite a wonderful thing, the way I smiled and so did you, sound asleep, and that’s all I need to know for now.
That’s all I want to know for now.

    Charlotte Eriksson
  • Young Quote #21

    Ray Bradbury
  • Young Quote #22

And this is what being an artist means, being a poet? To sacrifice yourself for your art, sacrifice your heart for your art, because it’s only through something broken that something beautiful can grow.

    Charlotte Eriksson
  • Young Quote #23

And what if you try to kill me? Or worse: to kiss me?

    Simona Panova
  • Young Quote #24

And you might try to hide or protect yourself, or compare the different states of love,
but you must not grow up, must not act wise
    when it comes to love.
You must stay foolish and fall
for every heart will beat in different ways together with yours and love is not meant to be compared, only enjoyed, and suffered, and remembered.

    Charlotte Eriksson
  • Young Quote #25

Ani saw herself clearly in that moment, as a face in darkness gains sudden dimensions in a flash of lightning - a young girl, a silly thing, a lapdog, a broken mare.

    Shannon Hale
  • Young Quote #26

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.

    Akash lal karotia
  • Young Quote #27

As evolutionary time is measured, we have only just turned up and have hardly had time to catch breath, still marveling at our thumbs, still learning to use the brand-new gift of language. Being so young, we can be excused all sorts of folly and can permit ourselves the hope that someday, as a species, we will begin to grow up.

    Lewis Thomas
  • Young Quote #28

as we are endowed. with rhetorics. none will deny.
of innocence. towards scribbling. of love lines.
    and of lust.
    to what seems like male.
    to what seems like female.
    in those days.
I mean nothing. but in high school.
    .even me.
    I can't deny.

    Michael Bassey Johnson
  • Young Quote #29

At a certain age [...] you start thinking you might have learned something when you were young if you hadn't already been so smart.

    Mark Jenkins
  • Young Quote #30

At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.

    Chris Van Allsburg
